Belagavi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has revealed a shocking fact about this time’s monsoon in the state.

According to their reports, heavy rains in the Belagavi district has received almost half of the total normal monsoons in just nine days.

The district, which usually observes 612 mm of rains every year on an average, has already witnessed 280 mm of rains in nine days, i.e, between August 1 and 9.

Within this period, the district usually observes about 42 mm of rains, but this time around it has received seven times the normal rains.

The situation is the same when it comes to other flood-affected districts like Dharawad and Haveri.

Dharwad, which generally experiences 498 mm of rains in a complete cycle, has received 273 mm in nine days. Similarly, Haveri usually observes 485 mm of rains but has so far received 236 mm.

The situation in the coastal districts and the Malanad region are no different as these regions have so far observed four times more rains than usual.

When some parts of the state are experiencing massive amounts of rainfall, districts like Chikkaballapur, Ramanagar, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar and others are experiencing drought conditions.
