Dharwad: The government has proposed to provide a new lease of life to Primary Health Centres (PHC) in Dharwad taluk for which the necessary amount has been released, said District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni.
Speaking after the foundation laying ceremony for a new PHC at Uppinabetageri village in taluk on Saturday, the minister said Rs. 2.6 Crore had been released for Uppinabetageri.
Other PHCs coming under 71 Dharwad Assembly Constituency at Garag, Hebballi and Amminabavi would be developed, besides providing them with basic facilities, he said.
The renovated PHCs would have four-bed facility for women, two beds for men along with surgery, maternity, medical examination units and laboratory among others. The Alnavar hospital would be upgraded besides district hospital in Dharwad and Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) would be developed using funds from private industries under their corporate social responsibility activities, he said.
Concretisation of roads, desiltation of tanks, building community halls among others would be taken up, he said.
