Madikeri: Shanivarasanthe Police waylaid two trucks transporting sand illegally from Belthangadi to Kushalnagar and arrested two people in this connection on February 11.

Two trucks carrying sand camouflaged with waste areca pod covers and leaves were stopped near Gopalapura on a definite tip off, in the early hours of the morning.

During inspection, it was found that sand was being ferried illegally and police took the trucks into their possession. Truck drivers Abubakar and Mohammed were arrested by the team lead by Sub Inspector Mariswamy.

In another incident, police intercepted two trucks ferrying sand from Kodlipet to Kushalanagar during routine search operations. Police succeeded in seizing the trucks whereas the drivers managed to flee the scene.
