With troubles continuing to brew, Islamic scholar and preacher Dr Zakir Naik has sought support from Muslims across the world against ‘media trials’.

Resorting to Twitter and Facebook, Naik, who is facing probe after it came to light that his speeches inspired Bangladesh Cafe Attackers to take to terrorism, Dr Naik connected with Muslims through his Twitter account @drzakirofficial and Facebook page Dr Zakir Naik.

“I, Dr Zakir Naik, Call upon all my Muslim Brothers & Sisters to Support me against the “Media Trials” and Let Justice Prevail,” Naik tweeted.

Naik, who is known for his provocative talks, often punctuated by statements showing other religions in bad light, in an earlier tweet, said: “I appeal to all people worldwide to work together on the causes, ways and solutions to eliminate TERRORISM FROM OUR MIDST.” Within an hour, his post on the platform received over 6,000 likes. Dr Naik is already banned in Britain and Canada for his hate speeches against other religions.

As per sources apart from Ayaz Sultan, the leader of the Islamic State module in Malwani, Maharashtra who was influenced by Naik’s speech, several members of Indian Mujahideen who joined the ISIS were also influenced by Dr Naik.

Naik, however, had released a statement, saying he disagreed that he inspired the act of killing innocent people in Dhaka.
