Mysuru: In a tragic incident, a male elephant on musth sexually attacked a pregnant female elephant, killing the latter at Balle elephant camp here.

Arjuna, the elephant that carries the ‘Ambari’ during the world famous Mysuru Dasara reportedly was on musth and as a result he forcefully mated pregnant female elephant named Ramani.

Due to the forceful mating, Ramani’s young one died in the womb and within few hours even Ramani succumbed to heavy bleeding and internal injuries on Saturday, said sources.
