Manisha Khan, 19, drowned in the Indira Canal in Lucknow while filming reels with her sisters and friends. Her body has not been found.
According to police officials, search operations involving divers will be resumed on Monday.
According to Ajay Narain Singh, the BBD police station’s station house officer, the incident happened on Sunday night.
News of Manisha falling into the canal while filming reels for their social media page was first reported by her sister Nisha Khan and her friend Deepali to UP 112 emergency services.
A police team was sent to the scene after receiving the alert, and the villagers told them about the incident as well.
SHO Singh said, “A video retrieved from Nisha’s mobile phone shows them dancing and filming reels when suddenly Manisha slips into the canal.”
Despite immediate efforts by divers, Manisha’s body could not be found. It was reported that Manisha, along with her sisters and friends, had hired an auto-rickshaw from Munshi Pullia and headed to the Indira Canal for a picnic.
