Mumbai: In the past 48 hours, a dozen individuals were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning after consuming a non-vegetarian street food item in Mumbai’s Goregaon area, as per a municipal official’s statement on Sunday.
According to the official, nine out of the twelve affected individuals have already been released from medical care, while the remaining three are still recovering.
The incident took place at Satellite Tower in the Santosh Nagar locality of Goregaon (East) on Friday, following the consumption of chicken shawarma.
“On Friday and Saturday, a total of twelve cases of food poisoning were reported. These individuals were promptly admitted to a hospital. While nine have been discharged, three continue to receive treatment,” stated the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official, refraining from specifying whether the food was consumed at a restaurant or a street vendor.
