T. Jeevan Reddy, a senior Congressman and the party’s candidate for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat, has become embroiled in controversy following an incident in which he struck a woman.
On Friday, a video that showed the former minister slapping a woman while campaigning went viral on social media.
The incident happened in a village during the Congress candidate’s and a few other leaders’ campaign in the Armur Assembly segment.
Jeevan Reddy allegedly slapped the woman, a labourer under rural employment guarantee scheme, when she told him that she will vote for ‘flower’ symbol in the May 13 election.

She bemoaned the fact that, despite having supported the Congress in the most recent Assembly elections, she was not receiving her pension. P. Vinay Kumar Reddy, who lost the Armur Assembly election, accompanied the Congress candidate.
One of the seven Assembly segments that make up the Nizamabad Lok Sabha seat is Armur.
The Congress has fielded Jeevan Reddy against sitting MP D. Arvind of BJP.
