Ahmedabad: Even as a section argues over how Yoga is a ‘Hindu’ concept and hence cannot be practised by people of other religion, here at Anjuman-e-Islam school in Ahmedabad, the students practice this holistic way for health everyday for 30 minutes.

They are all the more punctual in doing so during the holy month of Ramzan as they go on dawn to dusk fast.

There are two purposes behind this. Firstly to assert that the spiritual discipline knows no religion and secondly that it can benefit anyone who is keeping the ongoing Ramzan fast.

“We all know that Yoga has several benefits. Yoga is not associated to any religion and can be practiced by everyone. Yoga helps us to get through the day in a healthy fashion. We are not supposed to drink water nor eat anything during Ramzan and practicing this helps us cope with the pressure,” ANI quotes a student named Nameera.

The Physical Health instructor of the school, Mallick Husseinbhai, who supervises the moves of the students, says that the students are reaping great benefits from the exercise.

He says that chanting the ‘Omkar’ or not is completely left to the students.
