Aizawl: The Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has won from Serchhip and Hrangturzo, the two seats he contested in the state assembly elections.
In Serchhip, Thanwala won by by a margin of 734 votes defeating his nearest MNF rival Lalramzauva, who got 4,985 in a four cornered contest. In Hrangturzo, the chief minister defeated his Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) rival Lalthansanga by 1638 votes. Thanhawla secured 5173 votes in the five cornered contest.
Both MNF and the MPC are constituents of the Mizoram Democratic Alliance.
As per latest information, Congress has won 16 seats and is leading in 7 seats. MDA has won 2 seats and is leading in 3 others. ZNP and others are leading in 1 each. The ruling Congress had contested in all the 40 seats in the Mizoram assembly.
Over 81% of the total of 690,860 eligible voters exercised their franchise in the elections held on November 25.
