Mumbai: If the opposition INDIA bloc secures power in the Lok Sabha polls, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will be purified by the Shankaracharyas, said Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole.

He claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi acted against protocol in the Ram Temple construction. The mistakes would be rectified if the opposition alliance form the government.

The senior Congress leader said, “Shankaracharyas were opposing this (pran pratishtha). All the four Shankaracharyas will purify the Ram Temple.”

He further stated, ‘Narendra Modi has disregarded protocol in the construction of the Ram Temple. We will rectify this through adherence to religious principles.’

The Shankaracharyas, who head the four major Hindu mutts (monastries), had stayed away from the Ram Mandir pran pratishtha ceremony which was held on January 22 in a grand manner.

Three out of the four Shankaracharyas expressed concern that the consecration ceremony did not align with Hindu scriptures, emphasizing their stance that while they neither opposed the January 22 event nor Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adherence to religious texts was paramount.

The Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math went as far as to label the installation of Lord Ram’s idol in an unfinished temple as “the greatest ignorance” of the scriptures.

On Thursday, Patole expressed confidence in the INDIA bloc winning over 35 out of Maharashtra’s 48 Lok Sabha seats. He also predicted the collapse of the Mahayuti alliance, led by Eknath Shinde, once the Lok Sabha election results are announced on June 4.
