The power supply to the water filtration plant at Panjrapur owned by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has been disturbed, resulting in water cuts in several areas of Island City, the eastern suburbs, and the western suburbs.
Municipal authorities announced that regions such as Churchgate, Marine Drive, Cuffe Parade, Worli, Mahim, Matunga, and Dadar will see a 10% reduction in water delivery until Tuesday, even though a backup water supply source has been established within an hour.
In addition, municipal authorities announced that the water supply would be reduced by 20% in places like Dongri, Bhindi Bazar, Sandhurst Road, Sion, Byculla, Antop Hill, and Parel.
Additionally, according to BMC authorities, there would be a 10% reduction in water delivery for the entire western suburbs (Bandra to Dahisar), while there will be a 20% reduction for the eastern suburbs (Byculla to Mulund).
Panjrapur’s water treatment plant has a capacity of 100 MLD. Water from the seven lakes is filtered by a 100 KV facility in Padgha, which supplies the electricity. This facility’s water supply was impacted by a disruption in the power supply.
