On the internet, a video of a 55-year-old man being fatally attacked on a Mumbai local train has gone viral. On April 28, late at night, two men with a knife and a belt viciously attacked Dattatray Bhoir, a farmer from Sajivali village in Shahapur taluka, while he was on a local train between Khadavli and Vasind railway stations. Four days after his injuries, he passed away.
On the evening of April 28, Bhoir was on his way home after a friend’s Haldi celebration in Ulhasnagar, along with two other people. At two in the morning they caught a local train from Shahad station to Kasara. On the local train, Bhoir and his companions were seated in the general cabin.
The vicious attack was caused by a misconception that the victim and his pals were making fun of the attackers, who were seated in the same compartment, according to the incident’s inquiry. The incident also caused injuries to Bhoir’s friend.
“One of the four people standing close to the door became agitated and upset because the other three of us pals were making fun of each other and having a raucous time. He approached us, pulled out a knife, and launched an assault on us. Bhoir attempted to fend him off. Then the assailant went after Bhoir’s wrist and stomach. He hurt my tummy as well as I tried to stop him. Later, we were also attacked by the attacker’s accomplice using his belt,” Shirose reportedly told police in his testimony.
While the other two are still being searched for, police have already apprehended two of the suspects. Tanji Kumar Jammuwal, 21, and Amol Pardeshi, 40, were named as the assailants. A complaint has been filed against the defendants in accordance with IPC sections 302, 324, 337, and 34. One of the defendants was previously the subject of an assault case.
