The 72-kilometer Chitradurga-Davangere segment of a new six-lane highway in Karnataka is expected to improve connectivity and shorten travel times for commuters traveling between Bengaluru and Mumbai. The Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, posted breathtaking images of the length on social media on Monday, calling it a “lifeline” that links the innovation hub and that financial capital.
Gadkari claims that this recently constructed route would provide travel options that are ecologically friendly, fuel-efficient, and time-efficient. “Explore the magnificent scenery along the 6-lane Chitradurga-Davangere stretch, a vital route connecting Bangalore and Mumbai,” the author stated. This route winds through Karnataka’s breathtaking natural scenery and is a symphony of time-saving, fuel-efficient, and environmentally beneficial travel. It is not just about getting where you’re going.
This project is expected to cost approximately Rs 1,400 crores to develop. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) plans to use sustainable methods and materials, such as bituminous concrete that contains plastic and milling material for service roads, to guarantee lower maintenance costs in the future. According to Gadkari, this initiative is a continuation of the earlier disclosed proposal to build National Highway-75, which will connect Devihalli and Nelamangala in Karnataka.
Due to better connectivity, this new highway is anticipated to shorten the travel time between Mumbai and Bengaluru and increase the value of real estate in Chitradurga, Davangere, and other Northwest Karnataka communities.
