Shimla: Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut mistakenly targeted her BJP colleague instead of opposition leader in Bihar due to a similarity in names. Referring to Tejasvi Surya instead of Tejashwi Yadav, she criticized him during an election rally.
Her statement, “There’s a party of spoilt princes… whether it’s Rahul Gandhi who wants to grow potatoes on the Moon, or Tejasvi Surya who does hooliganism and eats fish,” created confusion initially, but it was clarified that she was targettig Tejashwi Yadav.
Tejashwi Yadav, the original target of her criticism, had recently stirred controversy with a video showing him eating fish, which became a point of contention between the BJP and the opposition.
Tejasvi Surya, mistakenly singled out by Ranaut, who is the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from the Bengaluru South constituency in Karnataka.
Responding to Kangana Ranaut’s statement, Tejashwi Yadav questioned, “Ye mohtarma kaun hai?” (Who is this lady?), expressing his surprise at being incorrectly mentioned in her rally.
Congress hit back at Ranaut, asking her party to explain the merits on which she secured the BJP ticket.
