Gurdaspur: Shortly after joining the BJP, actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol has kicked off his campaign on the party’s ticket for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha elections, making references to his roles in popular films and his hard-hitting filmi dialogues.
During a five-hour roadshow on Monday, Deol admitted that did not know much about India’s relations with Pakistan or IAF’s Balakot strike, he said that he was “here to serve people”. However, he said that if he were to win the election, he would have an opinion on these issues.
“This is real life. Movies are different,” he said, adding that he wants to work for the country and assured that he would do good work if he wins.
Deol filed his nomination on April 27 to contest for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat on the BJP’s ticket. He will be facing off against Punjab Congress chief and incumbent MP Sunil Jakhar, Aam Admi Party’s Peter Masih and People’s Democratic Alliance’s Lal Chand.
