Gundlupet: The Minister for Forest, Ecology, and Environment has instructed officials to promptly implement strict measures at the forest department’s check post. It has come to light that wastes and refuse from Kerala and Tamil Nadu are being illicitly deposited in Gundlupet.
The improper disposal of solid waste and impurities has presented a significant issue for Gundlupet, a town situated along two interstate borders. Despite media reports spotlighting the dumping of truckloads of animal meat waste, plastics, and other items from Kerala, neither the forest department nor the police have taken any action. This situation has resulted in a foul odor permeating the Kerala-Mysore highway in the town. In the wake of media coverage, directives have been given to closely monitor the borders and to take legal action against any instances of waste disposal.
