Mangaluru: On the occasion of Van Mahotsav, the members of Catholic Sabha & Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Fermai Parish in assistance with the Commission for Ecology of the parish organized Clean Drive and Plant Distribution Program on July 17.
The program commenced at 8:30 am after mass. Lancy D’Souza President of Catholic Sabha welcomed the gathering. Later the chief guest, the parish priest Rev. Dr Mark Castelino addressed the gathering about the intensity of the environment & its preservation and planted a sapling as an opening for the program. Later plants were distributed to every family in the parish. ICYM president Allen Dsa gave the vote of thanks. Prashanth Saldanha compered the program.
After this program, the members of Catholic Sabha, as well as ICYM, initiated collecting the waste from the Fermai Church campus to the Ullaibettu grama panchayat. They collected about one ton of garbage/ plastic waste. This rationale was highly appreciated by the public
