Bengaluru: The newly elected BJP member from State Jaggesh had to take the oath twice on Monday July 18 after it came to light that he had not used his official name.
According to sources, on July 8, while the house was not in session, Jaggesh and other newly elected MPs took their oaths in the Rajya Sabha chamber. He had taken the oath as Raghavendra Swamy.
According to the sources, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu noticed this and asked whether it was in order.
Officials informed Naidu that this was not in order and that the member needed to take the oath again.
In compliance with the rules, Jaggesh took his oath once more in the House on Monday.
