Mangaluru: Vanamahotsava was celebrated at Yenepoya University on 04.07.2015 by planting saplings by the staff and students of all constituent colleges.
The event was organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies and those gathered planted different species of saplings such as Kadamba, Beete, Asoka, Hebbalasu, Sampige and Rudrakshi. A total of 45 saplings were planted. The main objective of celebrating vanamahotsava was to inculcate green consciousness among the students and NSS volunteers who participated in the drive. Mr. Dinesh M. Nayak, Advisor (Green Belt), SEZ Ltd. gifted saplings and stressed on the importance of growing trees.
Registrar Dr. C. V. Raghuveer, Controller of Examinations Prof. K. P. Jayarajan, Dean of Physiotherapy College Prof. Padmakumar S. P., NSS Programme Officers and alumni planted saplings and participated in the event. Assistant Director of Centre for Environmental Studies Dr. Bhagya B. Sharma organized the programme and welcomed the gathering.
