Speaking at a Press Conference on 6th July, the office bearers of Mandd Sobhan, an organization that promotes and preserves konkani culture and arts, said that though many Konkani movies are produced and released in Goa, Mangaloreans do not get an opportunity to see and enjoy these movies, except those produced in Karntaka, which are limited in number. This has created a preception that there are hardly any Konkani movies. It is to dispel this impression that this film festival is being held they said.
