Mangaluru: The orientation session for the parents of new entrants to the engineering stream was held in the Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management Campus.

Chairman Manjunath Bhandary extended a warm welcome and addressed the gathered parents, briefing them on the overall growth of the college since its inception. He basically stressed to the parents on acceptance of the engineering course. He stated that engineering was a process of learning the concepts, rather than only studying. He called upon the parents to motivate their wards to learn new things using facilities which are available in the college adding that the institution was just a dead infrastructure to which only the students could bring life and make a difference with an impact.

Manjunath Bhandary urged the parents to extend their complete cooperation in making their wards real engineers when they walk out of the campus on completion of the engineering course. Personality and skill development are to be imbibed in an individual and parents are responsible for inculcating those values in their ward, he said.

He shared some of his personal views asking parents to develop a friendly relationship with their ward and also closely monitor every activity of theirs. He insisted on the parents to teach the basic life skills that are required for an individual thus making their ward self dependent, reliable and employable. He placed the placement statistics before the parents including the highest pay package, stating the difference between the product based and service based company. He mentioned about the platform provided to the students to compete at the national and international level events. He advised the parents to avail educational loan in order to make their child financially responsible. He gave additional details about the E-buzz, E-magazine and Newsletter. He also briefed about the dress code that every student must follow in the campus.
