New Delhi: In what may come as a huge embarrassment to India, Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan, who is also India’s Goodwill ambassador for Rio Olympics 2016 has no idea about Dipa Karmarkar and her accomplishments at Rio Olympic.

Dipa, 22 from Tripura became the first Indian to reach the final of apparatus in the artistic Gymnastics at Rio Olympics, but our Ambassador fumbled over her name, let alone lauding her accomplishments.

The actor was at the trailer launch of upcoming Bollywood flick Freaky Ali, when the journalists asked him about his opinion on Dipa’s rare feat.

“I thought…was it Deepika? I thought she was going to win gold but she came eighth, no?” said the actor without realising the blunder that he had committed.

When one of the reporters pointed out at the mistake, Salman was far from getting the name right. “Oh yes, Deepti,” came his second reaction, leaving everyone dumbstruck by this heights of ignorance.
