Mysuru: The tourism will be affected if excise department failed to renew Bar and Restaurant license (C CL-7, CL-9) for hotels which are located at Industrial area said C Narayanagowda, President of Hotel Owners Association, Mysuru.
“Though during session, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed the officials to take action against particular firm who failed to follow rules, the irresponsible officials are taking action against all the firms across the state,” he said adding that it is not fair on part of officials to not renew these licenses.
There are nearly 60 such hotels including five, four, three and two star hotels where more than 1500 people are working. The licenses are to be renewed on July 1 but the officials concern are yet to renew licenses putting the life of these proprietors who have invested crores of rupees in jeopardy, he claimed
He mentioned that if government failed to renew the licenses at the earliest, tourism will also be affected in city. People who depend on bar and restaurant will try to shift to other nearby places which will greatly affect tourism in Mysuru. “The world famous dasara will commence from October 1, the tourist will start coming well before the start of the event, hence we request the government to renew bar and restaurant license at the earliest” pointed Narayanagowda.
He also stated that some of the hotel owners have taken up the issue legally by approaching the High Court. In a day or two, the association members will also be submitting memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah requesting him to interfere and renew their license at the earliest.
