London: In Hainault, east of London, the Metropolitan Police reported the arrest of a man wielding a sword after several individuals were assaulted and injured. The authorities were alerted before 7:00 am (0600 GMT) when a vehicle collided with a house, and reports indicated multiple stabbings.
The suspect purportedly proceeded to assault additional members of the public and two police officers, as per an official statement. The condition of the injured parties is currently pending updates.
London Ambulance Service confirmed treating five individuals, transporting them to hospitals, though their conditions remain undisclosed.
A 36-year-old man was apprehended at the scene by the Metropolitan Police, responsible for patrolling a vast area of Greater London spanning 620 square miles (1,605 square kilometers).
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan remarked, “This incident does not seem to have ties to terrorism.”
Social media footage depicted an individual brandishing what appeared to be a Samurai-style sword in the vicinity of residential areas. Emergency service vehicles, including police, fire, and ambulances, were observed within cordoned areas, including near the local Underground station.
