London: An Indian-origin girl has been declared as Britain’s brightest child after winning a popular television quiz competition in the UK.

Rhea, a schoolgirl from London, whose surname has not been revealed, triumphed in a tense final of Child Genius on Channel 4. The fourth series of ‘Child Genius’ was fronted by Richard Osman, best known for his appearances alongside Alexander Armstrong on the BBC quiz show ‘Pointless’. Rhea, who wants to go to Oxford or Cambridge to train to be a doctor, clinched the coveted trophy after spelling polydactylous (meaning having many digits) and thelytokous (which means producing only females). The 10-year-old spelled the word “eleemosynary”, meaning relating to charity, to claim the title at the end of four weeks of tough question rounds.

Rhea now lives in UK with her family after she moved from US, six years ago. She currently lives in west London.
