One of the richest institutions in the country with annual revenue of Rs. 868 crore in 2010-11 has conveniently choosen to ignore the plight of Uttarakhand flood victims. The institute, which has numerous additional sources of incomes that generate funds far higher than its revenue, has been conspicuously absent as the nation battles with one of its biggest tragedies
However “BCCI have announced a cash prize of INR 1 crore to every playing member of the team n Rs. 30 lakhs to every member of the support staff,” as told by the premier cricket body on Monday.
Hockey India (HI) Tuesday contributed Rs.10 lakh to the Prime Ministers National Relief Fund to do its bit for the flood victims of Uttarakhand.
“Hockey India conveys its deepest concerns for the affected people of the Uttarakhand tragedy and being a national sports body we feel our duty to contribute in the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. It’s a small gesture to help the state during this calamity,” HI secretary general Narinder Batra said.
