Mumbai : Vodafone Foundation has announced a donation of Rs.7.87 million to provide 2,200 family packs for people in disaster-hit Uttarakhand, an official said Wednesday.
The family packs contain a basic kitchen set, clothes, mosquito nets and other items of daily use. These will be distributed through the Indian Red Cross Society.
The monsoon that hit North India early is continuing to wreak havoc in Uttarakhand, killing more than 800 people and leaving over 70,000 tourists and pilgrims stranded. Thousands of stranded people, including pilgrims, have been rescued from the area.
