JiuJiang: The mother of a 26-year-old girl who has cancer, pleaded with the police to let her child pass the checkpoint to avail medical treatment.
The incident took place at a checkpoint on the Yangtze river bridge near the Hubei province which has been shutdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The mother, Lu Yeujin claimed that her daughter needed to get chemotherapy treatment for leukaemia and begged police officers to let her pass through.
Speaking to reporters, Lu said, “My daughter needs to go to the hospital in JiuJiang. She needs to have her treatment, but they won’t let us through.”
While her daughter sat on the ground, Lu wept before the police and begged them to take her daughter to the hospital. “Please, take my daughter I don’t need to go past…please, just let my daughter go past,” she said.
After contacting the authorities, an ambulance picked up Lu and her daughter at the checkpost to take them to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the whole province continues to be shut down after 14,380 people were infected with the coronavirus which has also claimed the lives of more than 300 people in China.
