2 dead, 45 injured in attack on Lahore’s Christian community

Lahore: Many were killed and several injured during a twin bomb attack at Christ Church and Catholic Church in the Youhanabad area of Lahore a while ago.

According to initial reports, a suspected suicide bomber first threw a hand grenade inside the Catholic Church during the Sunday mass and then reportedly blew himself up, resulting in immediate deaths of at least 10 people, with atleast 45 injured. Updates on the casualties include a 12-year-old child and a policeman.

Sources said that the suspected bomber approached the church on foot and lobbed a hand grenade inside the premises before detonating his explosives. The claim could not be verified by the police as yet.

Sources said that locals had also seized an armed suspect from near the church and handed him over to the police for interrogation.

Rescue and police personnel have cordoned off the area as panic spread across other churches in the city.
