Street Vendor’s Dosa-Gulab Jamun Fusion Baffles Netizens

Online, we come across strange food pairings all the time. Not every one of these culinary fusions is enjoyable to eat or watch, though. Foodies have cringed at combinations such as chocolate Manchurian, Maggi paratha, egg pani puri, and palak paneer samosas. This bold culinary fusion trend has a new entry that has just surfaced online. A food vlogger is shown in the video visiting a Chandigarh street vendor serving dosas. The unconventional filling that had everyone talking was the gulab jamun stuffing inside the dosas, as opposed to the usual potato filling. You did indeed read that right. It said, “Atrangi Gulabjamun Dosa,” in the text that was posted.

Funny enough, the vlogger asks the vendor in the video if he’s “scared of God” for blending gulab jamuns into dosa and makes fun of his bold choice. In response, the vendor says he’s just fulfilling customer demand in a casual manner. He even says that some customers came back for more of his special dosas. The vendor starts by spreading dosa batter onto a hot griddle and then stacking three gulab jamuns that have been finely chopped. Gulab jamun syrup, coconut flakes, and a drizzle of cream follow. The vendor goes above and beyond by using cream to form a heart shape before serving the dosa, which is folded into a triangle and topped with extra coconut flakes. It turned out that the vlogger thought the dish was “actually tasty” after all.

The internet is divided over this unconventional food pairing.

Swiggy Instamart left a comment on the post, saying, “Aaj ye ho raha hai, kal samose mein rasmalai daal doge [Today this is happening, tomorrow you will put rasmalai in samosas].”

A user commented, “As much as I hate these inventions, I think this will taste like a sweet crepe. This should taste good.”

Another agreed, saying, “This is a crepe.”

A skeptical user wrote, “Customer demand??? Who are these customers?”

“Ancestors who designed these healthy dishes are already dead, please don’t give them a deadly heart attack,” read a comment.
