Chennai: As three stands at the MAM Chidambaram stadium in Chennai have been sealed by the municipal corporation at least 39,000 cricket fans may not be able to watch the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils .
As the PRL (Public Resort License) issued by the police have been withdrawn , the Chennai police too has issued a show cause notice to the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) asking why the match should not be cancelled.
The Supreme Court agreed to give an urgent consideration on Monday on the appeal of the TNCA for de-sealing of the three stands. The Chennai Corporation had sealed these stands on Sunday after the Supreme Court quit the stay granted by the Madras High Court.
Stands I, J and K do not have plan approval, but the TNCA claims it had obtained permission from the Chennai Corporation to use them during cricket matches till May 22. The stands were de-sealed as the tickets have already been sold for todays IPL match to be played in the stadium, which has this year already conducted seven IPL matches without any problem.
The Madras High Court would hear TNCAs petition testing Chennai polices show cause notice and the cancellation of stability certificates to all nine stands.
