Boxer Vijender Singh had procured heroin 12 times: Punjab police

Chandigarh: Punjab police  have said that  international boxer and Olympic medallist Vijender Singh had  procured heroin 12 times from alleged drug smugglers including NRI Anoop Singh Kahlon.

VijendarIn a statement issued, the Punjab police said investigations so far have revealed that Vijender Singh had consumed drugs at least 12 times while Ram Singh had consumed drugs five times.

It may be recalled here that Kahlon alias Ruby, the alleged Canada-based drug dealer, was arrested by police on March 3. Nearly 26 kg of heroin worth Rs 130 crore  was also seized from his residence in Zirakpur on the outskirts of Chandigarh.

The Punjab police spokesperson said, “it has been established that Boxers Ram Singh and Vijender Singh took heroin from Kahlon and his aide Rocky for personal consumption between December 2012 and February 2013.”

Vijender, who has denied any involvement in the drugs racket, was not immediately available for comments.

The police said the two may not be immediately arrested  as they have not actively connived with the smugglers.
