Mangaluru: At a time when classical music is losing its sheen, three young artists from Mangaluru, led by Reuban Machado have come up with a special instrumental video cover as a resplendent tribute to the glorious land India on the occasion of this 71th Independence Day.

Hailing from Derebail, Reuban a budding artist is supported by Rahul on the Tabla and Russel on the keyboard for this special cover.

Here is the Independence Day special cover:

Speaking about the actual idea behind the instrumental video cover for Independence Day, Reuban said, “Now a days we do not find much of instrumental music. Flute, Tabla and other such instruments especially classical instruments have become rare sight and rare melody as well. With this, we thought of doing a rare combination with ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ and ‘Vande Matharam’ as the lead songs showcasing Indian culture. I hope music lovers will like it.”

Two other artists in this special cover, Russel, a class 8 student who plays the Keyboard and another upcoming young artist Rahul who is pursuing his graduation in SDM college, who plays the Tabla, have given their best to make the video cover sound enchanting.

Reuban credits his father Richard Machado as his first guru and first inspiration. He learnt music from his father who is also a guitarist and keyboardist.

Talk about Reuban and he himself plays guitar, keyboard, harmonica and his special talent is that he can play two instruments at a time! He is also a vocalist in Carnatic Music and renowned flutist Praveen Godkindi is his inspiration.

Reuban started his musical journey at a tender age of three when he started playing harmonica or mouth organ.

Slowly he started to learn other instruments and also banked on the YouTube to hone upon his skills. Three years ago he started learning flute from Ramchandra Bhat and Manish from Karangalapady in Mangalore and looks like flute has won this young musician’s heart.

“In the community that I hail from, most of the musicians have inclination towards guitar, keyboard and drums. Nobody has taken liking to learning a traditional classic instrument like flute, which according to me is an outstanding and unique instrument. Flute is pleasing and soothing. Now I have made up my mind to perform as a flutist,” he says.

Reuban is an International artist too. He was chosen as one of India’s representative by Art Of Living organisation to perform along with 155 countries in Delhi in 2016 during World Cultural Festival. He was also one of the nominees for Naman Balok and Yuva Puraskar awards. Apart from music, he is a good videographer and has shown his skills in Photography too. He is going to pursue post graduation in Journalism and Mass Communication at Nitte Institute of Communication.

He has a message for young generation and he says, “Youth must not waste time. They should instead identify their interests and work on it. “

With the I-Day coinciding with festival of Krishna Janmashtami-a festivity celebrating birth of Lord Krishna, the greatest flutist ever, may this young flutist and his team’s efforts be well accepted!
