Newskarnataka’s new look – a leap into the future

“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future” – John F. Kennedy.

This was exactly our sentiment and motivation, when we decided to revamp our website. We now have a new look, but rest assured, our valued reader, our commitment to you, has not, and will not change.

We remain committed to reflecting Karnataka, truthfully, in your daily diet of news and views of the world around you. Our ‘LOGO’ approach to content – a local view of global events – adds a unique value to our website and we believe that, our new look represents the current and future needs of our readers and clientele.

The entirely new website you see is the product of six months of creative brainstorming by the Newskarnataka team, and tremendous hard work by the in-house design team. It incorporates the changes and improvements that many of you have told us you would like to see.

A revamped logo

The first thing you’ll notice, is that we’ve tweaked the logo. It’s a logo that embraces and respects Newskarnataka.com’s heritage, yet represents its future. The colors are the same, but we’ve moved them around. The red on white has now become white on red and reflects a slim uncluttered design. The tag line has changed from ‘Reflecting Karnataka’ to ‘Truth Endures’ – We decided that we need to emphasize the fact, that in this day and age of instant news, we are committed to reflecting Karnataka….truthfully.

A new page design

The new page design allows us present more news and features on our home page, laid out in an ‘easy on the eye’, and ‘easy to access’ format, for your convenience. It will better showcase photography, video and graphics, and in this day and age of the social media, ease the sharing of our stories on the social media. Most importantly, it provides for an interactive reader interface that invites you to tell us if you like or dislike the content we publish. Your feedback to us can only help us improve.

A blend of the old and new reads

The website is now a blend of the old and the new – You can continue to view all your favorite local, national and international news stories, along with a dash of the new – An opinion column which will bring to you, opinions of the newsmakers and news watchers that matter, on the issues that matter; Nature – a column that focuses exclusively on sustainable living and the environment; Open Space – a column that provides you, our readers, with an opportunity to try their hand at journalism – from fiction, to poetry, to thought provoking articles; from the web – a space that will bring you interesting news tidbits from around the world wide web, so that you need not crawl the web for it. While these introductions will add to your daily reading variety, the new Editor’s Choice section is designed to keep you up to date, with what we consider interesting and relevant on the website.

A fast growing readership

Newskarnataka.com has a fast growing readership across Karnataka, India and the world and we are indeed grateful to our growing band of readers, for their support, loyalty, and feedback. But, we know that with this growing readership, comes the constant responsibility to provide you with the broadest, deepest, incisive, and engaging coverage that we can.

Reiterating our stand

As a peoples’ portal Newskarnataka.com always believed in positive journalism. It was projected to be the mouthpiece of the people. A medium that would never hit below the belt nor be the marketplace for personal comments, bias or personal gains. It was to be a place where fate of a story’s life would be determined only by virtue of its merit. It continues to be heralded by a young and truly credible generation committed to enrich the medium based on principles of positive journalism and moral ethics.

The future beckons

The revamp of our news website is part of a larger plan at  News Karnataka, the contours of which will become public in the days to come. Keep watching this space.
