Mysuru: Tourists throng to the beautiful city of Mysuru to feast on the lavish spectacle of the magnanimous palaces that dot the city. But, here in the Royal City stands first of its kind Anganwadi that upholds the tribal way of living.

The district has an eco-friendly Anganwadi building which has been built at Malaganakere Hadi in Piriyapattana taluk.
The structure has been put up using bamboo and mud.
The 64 sqft Anganwadi has been built using the material procured from nearby forest.
Rain water harvesting:
The centre is equipped with 2000lt capacity tank for rain water harvesting. The water thus collected will be used by the anganwadi for gardening and other purposes.
A Thailand model has been adapted to purify over 1000ltrs of water.
Solar powered:
The anganwadi has been installed with solar panels so that the centre uses renewable energy.
Jatropa, bamboo and some other local variety of wood have been used to lay compound wall around the Anganadi.
Mysuru District Commissioner C Shikha has provided special schemes for the tribals living in this area. Drinking water and electricity has been provided for the residents in the forest region.
