Riyadh, Jun 11: Rajesh Kumar has been elected president of Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) for  the year 2014-15. The election was held during the annual general body meeting of KWAR at Community Hall (Isthrah) at Exit 18, Al Kharj Road, Riyadh on Thursday, May 29.

Mr. Kumar is a founder member of KWAR and working as a Branch Manager in Al Thaneyan Insurance Brokers Co. Mr. Kumar, who hails from Pandeshwara, Mangalore, is an Alumni of Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal.

Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (KWAR) is a non-profit voluntary organization formed with broad objective of doing far-reaching social and community services respecting the human values without any barrier and prejudice, with great regards to the Laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to cherish the democratic values of India and rich culture of Karnataka. Established in the year 2008 for the purpose of uniting all Karavali people living in Riyadh, has done tremendous work in the fields of Community welfare and Charity and won many accolades within a short period from its inception.

The remaining members elected to the managing committee for the year 2014-15 are as follows:

Apart from Office Bearers, other 18 members were selected for Executive Committee.The Election Committee was chaired by Mr.Vijay Rai and Mr.Ramesh Shetty. 

The meeting was conducted by the outgoing president Royston Prabhu. His welcome address was full of  humour, which has  always been his trademark. He kept the crowd entertained.

Muzaffer Ali, outgoing General Secretary, made a power point presentation of the activities of KWAR. This included reports on Cooking festival, Cricket Tournament and Cultural programs conducted throughout the year. He also covered issues like Charity programs undertaken by KWAR, annual event, future plans, etc. Mr. Rajesh Kumar, the outgoing Treasurer presented  the Financial Report for the year 2013-14. Outgoing Vice-President Mr. Parvez Ali emphasized on the importance keeping the unity in diversity and respecting each other’s beliefs and views. Outgoing President Mr. Royston Prabhu in his speech thanked each and every member of KWAR committee for extending their support during his tenure and urged the office bearers and committee members to extend their support to the new committee, for success of the organization.

A month earlier KWAR had formed its own Ladies Wing and selection of Office Bearers were held. Mrs. Amitha Prabhu was elected unanimously as Vice- President of KWAR Ladies Wing.
