Abu Dhabi: The 70th Independence Day of India was celebrated at India Social and Cultural Centre with befitting variety of cultural programs on Thursday, August 18.

The event was jointly organized with Abu Dhabi Malayalee Samajam, Kerala Social Centre, Indian Islamic Centre and Indian Ladies Association. Kapil Raj, Second Secretary of Indian Embassy Abu Dhabi was the Chief Guest. Hon. General Secretary of ISC John P. Varghese welcomed the gathering. Thomas Varghese, Hon. President of ISC chaired the meeting. Hon. President of KSC Padmanabhan, Hon. Gen. Secretary of IIC Moidu Kadannappalli and the Hon. President of ILA Sunitha Waghle felicitated the gathering.

The Speakers remembered and saluted the suffering and sacrifice of the freedom fighters and the leaders. The progress of India and its march towards excellence after Independence were hailed.

Hon. President of ADMS Yesusheelan delivered the vote of thanks. Hon. Assistant, Entertainment Secretary of ISC, Ramesan KTP coordinated the event.

The cultural program was directed and synchronized by Rajan Pillai. Various performances from the participating organizations were knit in together as a non-stop performance and a notable audience attended the event. Dr. Raja Balakrishna played the lead role and over hundred artists were involved in the show.
