Doha-Qatar: Hanan Cricket Team lifted Karnataka Cup-2016 Champions Trophy by beating Lama Interiors in the finals of Karnataka Cup-2016 annual cricket tournament here in Qatar on Friday 25th at Old Ideal Indian school ground.
Karnataka Sangha Qatar, a socio cultural group aegis to Indian cultural center, successfully organized its prestigious annual cricket tournaments from 22nd-25th March with blissful colors. It was a stupendous success for the ‘Karnataka Cup -2016’ the 7th Edition Cricket Tournament organized by Karnataka Sangha Qatar from 22nd to 25th March 2016 at the Old Ideal Indian School Ground.
The inauguration function was graced by Seenu Pillai, Vice president of ICC as chief guest of the evening and Ghanim Mubarak Al Kuwari- as a Guest of Honor for the Opening Ceremony.
The passionate cricket lovers with family members turned up in large numbers for the Opening and Closing Ceremony. The daily matches were cheered by fans of respective teams along with the big audience present at the ground. For the first time, the participation of two foreign Cricket teams from Bahrain and Kuwait heralded a new chapter in the history books of KSQ. The teams were- Hanan, Mpallonji, Kuwait Raiders, Lama Interiors, Bahrain Fighters, Almuftah, BICT Rockers and Tuskers.
The other highlight was a Female Umpire Shivani Mishra, who was among the panel of Umpires and the Line Cameras in addition to the Third Umpire Cameras.
Semifinals were held on 25th Friday evening, Hanan, Tuskers, Kuwait Raiders and Lama Interiors entered into semifinal round which was tough journey to every team after league matches.
Hanan enters final beating Tuskers by nail biting innings, meanwhile Lama interiors beats tough Kuwait Raider team to enter final.
Winning the toss Lama elected to bat but unfortunately batsmen failed to score more runs. Chasing the 51 winning score Hanan batsman easily won the match and were crowned with 7th Edition “Karanataka Cup” Champions title.
The final valedictory function was graced by Arvind Patil, ICBF president, and Divakar Poojary, General Secretary ICC.
Rauf of Hanan bagged Man of the match award and man of the series trophies, Pintu of Lama Best Batsman, Saddam of hanan Best Bowler, Shailesh of Kuwait best All-rounder, Anup of Tusker, Best catch of the tournament.
There was lucky draw to the spectators and 2 lucky winners won 32 LED Televisions.
Karnataka Sangha president HK Madhu thanked to all sponsors and volunteers.
Anil Boloor arranged the DJ-mix and Ishita, Mansi, Shreya, Samanvi, Sanvi, as Cheer Girls entertained the audience.
Sports secretary Tufail Mateen compered the event, Dr.Sanjay Kudari, Subramanya Hebbagilu, Sandesh Anand, Sunil Bhandary, Swaroop and other committee members coordinated the events.
