Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Awards conferred on meritorious individuals

UAE: The prestigious 17th annual Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award ceremony concluded in a glittering and colorful function at Sheikh Rashid Hall at the Trade centre here on 22 April 2015.

The best and the brightest schools, pupils, teachers and even families were awarded cash prizes after being named winners of the prestigious education award.

The Award honours individuals who value their commitment and have a proven record of outstanding success in their respective educational field. The award for Distinguished academic performance has been designed to recognize academic achievements, talents, skills and leadership abilities across variety of disciplines. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum established this award 17 years ago.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, gave away the awards to winners at a ceremony in Dubai on Wednesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

There are four levels to the competition – international, Arab region, GCC and UAE. Within each level, there are several categories – best education research in the Arab region, excellent teacher, excellent student, excellent school management, best scientific innovation and
even best family.

It was a proud moment for all the Mangalorean expatriates that few sparkling and young talented students have been awarded in this ceremony.

Budding talented Rithika Rajpal Shetty, studying in Grade 5 at Delhi Private School , Dubai , whoachieved remarkable milestones in many curricular and extra curricular activities, like Dance, Karate, Skating ,etc, said,  “My parents and teachers support and constant encouragement truly played an important role in achieving this prestigious award”.

Sprasha Prakash Shetty, little girl studying in Grade 3 of The Indian High school, excelled in academic performance along and also displayed her talents in curricular and extra-curricular activities, she said, “my parents, relatives, family and also my teachers have transformed my dreams into actions, and this has functioned as my stepping stone towards success for achieving this prestigious Sheikh Hamdan Award”.

Brent Adrial Anil D’souza, an all-rounder, studying in Grade 3 at The Kindergarten Starters, Dubai also was the proud recipient of an award.  Brent said he owes his success to his faith in God and to his parents who encouraged him to remain motivated and study hard. He also expressed his gratitude to his helpful teachers, who taught him how to channelize his resources in the right direction.

Such awards and accolades are indeed required in society, as they encourage and build self confidence of the awardees and motivate them to become true assets of society.
