Udupi : Charging sec 302 on ANF personnel Navin Naik and offering Rs,10 lac compensation to Kabeer’s family is nothing but an encouragement to naxalism -Sunil Kumar, MLA, Karkala.
He was speaking in the district unit BJP protest over filing of the murder case against the ANF constable Navin for killing Kabeer in the shootout at Shringeri on April 19.
Strongly supporting the shoot-out, the MLA added that to protect the city from cattle trafficking menace, we require thousands of officials like Naveen. He further alleged that the current government by supporting Kabeer wanted to prove that they give special preference to minorities.
He demanded the state government to explain the reason for charging IPC section 302 against the ANF man as he was just doing his duty. In countless tragic instances when farmers/ militant/poor man die, no one comes forward to help them. However in this case all priority is given just because the person who died belonged to minority community. The Government is forgetting that crime is a crime and criminals should be punished. There should not be any caste or religious discrimination in this regard, he said.
The BJP has demanded the immediate release of ANF Naveen Naik from custody and withdrawal of compensation to Kabeer’s kin.
