Kasargod : Traffic on the Badiadka-Kumble Road came to a grinding halt on Monday April 28 after the Janapara Rasthe Horata Samithi staged a road block in protest against the unsatisfactory works.

Activists blocked roads at various  places across the Badiadka-Seetangoli stretch. In Badiadka, there was even a heated exchange of words between the Action Committee activists and the police personnel.

The protest was earlier inaugurated by S.M. Mayya, President of the Vyapari Vyavasaya Ekopana Samithi. KN Krishna Bhat, President of the Action Committee, BS Ibrahim, Thomas and others participated in the protest.

Road Blocks were also held at Badiadka, Goliyadka, Kanattila, Neerchalu, Bela and Seetangoli. Various political parties,  activists of various organisations, traders and members of the general public have supported the protest. Even autorickshaw drivers of Neerchal backed the protest by parking their vehicles on the road.

The road works   inaugurated in May 2012 by PWD Minister VK Ibrahim Kunhi, were still half way through even two years later. Even the  already done works are unsatisfactory, point out  locals.
