The dargah of Syed Madani in Ullal, popularly known as Ullal dargah or Ajmer of the South, is one of the historical places in Mangaluru which draws pilgrims from all over the world irrespective of religion.
There is no exact information as to how and when the Syed Madani dargah was built. Sayyid Muhammed Shareeful Madani was a saint who came to Mangaluru from Saudi Arabia around 500 years ago and lived a simple life in a small mosque at Melangadi in Ullal village. During his time, he helped the poor and needy providing food and shelter. To continue the legacy of the saint, even now hundreds of people are served food irrespective of faith, class or sex every afternoon.

Another special attraction of the Ullal dargah is the Uroos which is held once in every five years drawing lakhs of pilgrims from all over the world. Visitors belonging to different religions offer prayers and vow (harake) here.

The dargah is presently managed by a registered Trust which runs an Arabic College, a Technical Education Institute, a charitable hospital etc.

The historical dargah is located about 10 kms away from the heart of Mangaluru city and is easily accessible by bus, auto-rickshaw or a taxi.
