Sirsi: In a heartbreaking incident in Taragodu village of Sirsi taluk in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka, the joyous atmosphere of Diwali turned into a scene of tragedy. The son, suffering from illness, succumbed to death at home. The grief-stricken mother and daughter, unable to cope with the loss, chose to end their lives by suicide right next to the son’s lifeless body.

Amidst the celebration of Diwali, a 22-year-old youth named Uday Balachandra Hegde passed away due to poor health. Following his demise, the mother, Narmada Balachandra Hegde (50), and the sister, Divya Balachandra Hegde (25), decided to end their lives in the same house where their son and brother had breathed his last.

The mother and sister, Narmada and Divya, hanged themselves near the place where the son’s body was laid. The festive atmosphere of Diwali in the village turned into a mournful setting due to the tragic event.

The village was celebrating Diwali with joy and fervor, but the news of three deaths in the same family brought sorrow to the residents. The local police from Sirasi rural station visited the site, conducted an investigation, and documented the incident. The grieving village, which was immersed in Diwali festivities, is now grappling with the shock of the tragic deaths.
