Young job aspirant collapses during selection trial, dies

Mysuru: A young police job aspirant who collapsed during selection trials at Karnataka police academy grounds on June 1, died today in the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Arjun Talageri (21) from Bagalkot.

Around 40,000 job aspirants had applied for 308 posts in the District Armed Reserve force (DAR). Physical fitness trials were being held at Karnataka Police Academy grounds. During the trials which involved a 1600mtrs run, Arjun collapsed midway and was shifted to hospital immediately after administering first aid. He was admitted to Intensive Care Unit for 3 days but unfortunately failed to recover and died.

He had taken part earlier in similar trials held in Mangaluru a few days back.

DCP‘s humane gesture

After realizing that Arjun had come to Mysuru in search of a job and his poor background, the Deputy Commissioner of police acted swiftly in ensuring proper treatment during his hospital stay. DCP Dr H T Shekhar not only paid the hospital bills but also paid the required amount towards his funeral expenses.
