Mysuru: Two women clubbed the rightful owner of a site to death, when he went to clear the weeds in the site purchased by him at Bogadi on September 1.
The deceased has been identified as Lokesh (47), a resident of Bogadi.
Lokesh, along with elder brother had purchased a site measuring 9 cents on Bogadi Ring Road some time ago. When he went to clear the full grown weeds at his site, two women named Shivamma and Shobha picked up a quarrel by claiming possession of the site. When Lokesh refused to buy their argument, the enraged women used pestles (long and round wooden clubs) and bludgeoned Lokesh. He suffered serious injuries and eventually died on the spot due to excess bleeding.
Previous owner had built a small house for the women to look after his land. Gradually women claimed false possession of the land and projected themselves as real owners.
The original owner sold the piece of land to Lokesh and his brother without informing the women. Unaware of the antecedents, Lokesh turned a victim, despite being the rightful owner of the site.
Saraswatipuram police arrived at the spot and arrested both Shobha and Shivamma.
Further investigations are in progress.
