Mysuru: Responding to the talks that the BJP is all set to field BS Yeddyurappa’s son Vijayendra from Varuna constituency to take on CM Sidddaramaiah’s son Yatheendra, Siddaramaiah said that not just Vijayendra, even Yeddyurappa is free to contest from Varuna if he desires.
Speaking to reporters, the CM questioned as to what relation Yeddyurappa shares with Varuna. “People will not throng to see BSY if he comes to Varuna. On the other hand, people will also not vote for Yatheendra because he is my son. But, people will weigh the work done.
I have done a lot of developmental work here and I have responded tothe problems of the people. They know whom to vote and they will not change their mind, no matter who comes to them,” said the CM adding that if former CMs children could be fielded just like that from any constituency, then politics could have been a cakewalk.
Talking about Chamundeshwari constituency where he will be contesting, the CM said that the people in his constituency have already made a choice. “I am confident that they will vote for me. I have never stayed away from this constituency. During every visit to Mysuru, I have had people from Chamundeshwari visiting me,” he said expressing his confidence of victory.
He said that he will touring with AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi from Tuesday. After completing it, he will come to take up state tour and then start canvassing in Varuna.
