Mysore: The water crisis in the city has worsened owing to which the world famous palace is reeling under acute scarcity of drinking water. KRS dam that was built to supply drinking water and irrigation purposes by Nalvady Krishnaraja Odeyar had sold his royal ornaments, when he faced financial adversity.

Its tragic that the palace that is the second largest tourism spot in the world faces acute shortage of water since 15 days. The bore wells that are located in the backyard of palace are only source of water supplying reasonable drinking water to the tourists.

Five electric pumps were installed to 8 bore wells to pump water to overhead tanks.  The bore wells supply 30,000 liters daily since 15 days.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants are installed at the palace managed by a private company – Cosmic which provides drinking water to tourists.
