Wall of Kindness debuts in Mysuru

Mysuru: “The smallest deed is better than the greatest intention.” Going by the adage, a deed is being done in the name of “Wall of Kindness” by Young Indians wing of Mysuru with a motto, “If you don’t need donate it. Take it if you need it”, near Dasappa circle, here on July 28.

Young Indians Mysuru, a part of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with Mysuru City Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum launched a project called “Wall of Kindness” on the wall of petrol bunk near Dasappa circle. “Wall of Kindness is a wall where people can donate anything including clothes, shoes, books, blankets and toys which are reusable and can be collected by people in need of them like the homeless and needy. This is aimed to help the needy, create a positive impact on society and to instil compassion and sharing among the citizens. The wall will be in existence for one year with a plan of opening five more walls in the different parts of the Mysuru city”, said Chairperson of Young Indians Mysuru, Akshara Kumar.

The wall of kindness is the first of its kind in Mysuru and is being done as a part of Young Indians’ Swachh Bharath vertical. The project was inaugurated by MCC Commissioner G Jagadeesh in the presence of Mayor M J Ravi. The wall will be open 24 hrs for one year. This initiative first begun in Iran and later similar walls were built in many countries. In India, even Tamil Nadu has it in the name of Bilwara and this “Wall of Kindness” is the first of its kind in Karnataka which is supported by the Mysuru City Corporation.

Young Indians members Nidhi Shah, Pratibha Nayak, Vinay Shankar, Chaitra Narayan and Akshara Kumar worked on this project. Young Indians (Yi) is an integral part of CII.Yi formed in the year 2002 with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realise the dream of a developed nation. Yi has around 2200 direct members in 40 chapters and strongly work towards nation building, youth leadership and thought leadership.
