View Mysuru dasara from the sky and take a round of the city on ‘Palace on Wheels’: HC Mahadevappa

Mysuru: Disclosing the details of the 11-day dasara program, the district in charge minister HC Mahadevappa said that tourists can take an aerial view of city of palaces in a chopper for 10 minutes and visit all eight famous palaces in the city with ‘palace on wheels’.

The helicopter service will cost Rs 2499 for senior citizens whereas students up to the 10th standard and physically challenged children will have to pay Rs 2299. The tourists can visit eight palaces within Mysuru city limits using palace on wheels bus service on-boarding a guide. They will have to pay Rs 999 and the services will be available between Oct 2nd-11th and souvenir in the form of an attractive key-chain and sweets during the travel will be provided. They will be provided lunch at Lalitha Mahal palace hotel and tea in the evening at Aloka palace.

 

The inauguration of the dasara will take place at the auspicious hour of Dhanur lagna where noted Kannada litterateur Nadoja Chennavira Kanavi will inaugurate the event by performing puja of Godess Chamundeshwari. State Chief Minister Siddaramiah along with other prominent dignitaries will be present on the occasion. On 11th October, Vijayadashami day, the program will begin with the State Chief Minister offering puja to Nandi dwaja at 2:16 PM  (Makara lagna) at the Balarama entrance of the palace. The Jamboo Savari (main procession) will begin at 3:00 PM where 36 tableaux and 30 cultural troupes will take part in the procession.  

 

The torch light parade at Bannimantap will begin at 8 PM on the 11th and the entire program can be viewed on large LCD screens placed specifically for the purpose at Chamundi Vihar stadium and Mysore university open theater. During these 11 days, 203 cultural troupes will perform on stage on different days and a special dance performance titled JEEVAJAL has been organized for the cause of conservation of water. Four state transport buses will ply from each nearby taluka to ferry passengers from rural areas for them to witness dasara.
